Afternoon Forum and Discussion

2:30pm, Albers Chapel

This year’s discussion session is titled “Sisterhood” and will be led by Aliza Grayevsky Somekh, an Israeli educator and chef.

October 7th was one of the most difficult moments in the history of the Jewish people since the establishment of the State of Israel and Jewish people around the world remain in deep mourning to this day.

Amidst the mourning, beautiful things have emerged — mutual support, taking personal responsibility, and deep friendships. A sisterhood has formed between strong women. In this session, we will talk about these friendships and the strong women we have come to know during the war.

Aliza Grayevsky Somekh is an eighth-generation Jerusalemite. Aliza specializes in Israeli culture. After a long career in informal education and Israeli culture — working with U.S and Israel-based Jewish organizations In 2016, she opened Bishulim SF, a boutique catering company fusing California ingredients with Israeli flavors. Drawing from her roots and culinary expertise, she creates food experiences that celebrate Israel's diverse heritage and tell different stories that celebrate Israel, building connections through its cuisine.
